I’ve been a photographer for 10 years and have lived in St. George for over 2 years now. If you’re not familiar with Utah, St. George is only 20 minutes from the Arizona border. It’s right in the middle of the desert with cacti, palm trees, and gorgeous mountains of red and white rocks. I’m about 1 hour from Zion National Park where the majority of my sessions and weddings take place.
When I moved to St. George for the warm weather and breathtaking scenery and hikes, I figured I would photograph only a few tourist couples. But oh I under estimated that big time. 90% of the couples that I photograph are visiting Southern Utah for a destination wedding, honeymoon, or just road tripping through for fun! So if this is you, we’re gonna be a great fit. Here are just some of the reasons why you can trust me to not only give you the Zion wedding photos of your dreams, but also help you ENJOY being engaged and not be so stressed about planning your big day.
I’m Local
Being local is important for a lot of reasons. For one, you don’t have to worry about paying hefty travel fees to bring another photographer out here. Southern Utah is hours away from any big city, so it can get pretty expensive to get out here (as I’m sure you know if you’re traveling here yourself!).
Two, being local also means that I know the area like the back of my hand. I know all the locations and hidden gems that photographers from elsewhere would never be able to find in a google search. I’ve spent the last 2 years driving up all the backroads for hours in every direction, finding the most breathtaking and secluded locations for my couples’ ceremonies. And as a convenience to you, I’ve compiled all my favorites into a Location Guide for my couples to make it easy for them to choose a spot for their session/wedding since most the time they can’t come out here and look around themselves.
Not only do I know all the location possibilities, but I also know which places require permits, parking situations, when the lighting will be best, and what the weather will be like. It’s frustrating when non-local photographers visit Southern Utah and don’t get the proper permits for shooting. Being local means I know and respect all the rules to protect our lands and National Parks.
Being familiar with the locations also means that I know BACKUP locations in case of bad weather, road/trail closures, or if anything else were to go wrong. When you’re having a destination wedding in/near Zion National Park, it’s crucial that your hire vendors with experience in the area so that they’re prepared for anything, allowing you to enjoy your day no matter what. I love the local wedding community that I’m a part of here in Southern Utah. Hiring local also means that you get vendors who are familiar with working together and make a great team, which overall helps your day run smoothly.
I Provide a Zion Wedding & Elopement Guide
In addition to the Location Guide, I also provide all my Zion couples with a Zion Wedding & Elopement Guide. The guide goes over everything from places to stay, potential locations and venues, vendor recommendations, example itineraries, other things to do in the area while you visit, and other tips for getting married in/near Zion National Park. While I’m not a wedding planner, I have put together this guide to give you a strong foundation as you plan your Zion wedding from out of state. I also offer itinerary assistance in case if you need help crafting a timeline for the most seamless day. Since I’m familiar with the shuttle and hiking times, I can help you make sure that everything runs smoothly and won’t fall behind.
Complete Weekend Coverage
If you’re having a destination wedding in Zion National Park, chances are you’ll be here for a few days either honeymooning or exploring with your friends and family. I offer a weekend elopement package that gives you full coverage over 2 days so we can document an adventurous ATV ride, an intimate session in your airbnb, a hike up to the Overlook, or flash photos on the Las Vegas Strip before you fly home. I know how much goes into planning a wedding, and I know how much MORE goes into planning a destination wedding. My hope is that when you hire me to be your Zion wedding photographer, you feel some of that stress lifted off your shoulders knowing that not only will you have amazing photos of all the important moments (big and small), but you also have a photographer who is experienced in the area and will help you have a Zion wedding that is intimate, unique to you, and focuses on the memories that you’re making with each other and with your closest friends and family.
